The Races of the World Empty The Races of the World

Due to a massive migration of races, races of humanoid inhabitants on Earth are now extremely varied.  No particular event caused the mass influx of intelligent beings to flock to the planet, but the dynamics of the planet have changed once Humans weren't the only known living beings in the universe.  The following are a list of playable races followed by a list of non-playable races.

The Playable Races
Humans

Average Lifespan: 90 Earth Years

Humans are the native species to Earth appearing just like us.  Their hair and eye colors, however, after the [Orion Radiation Event] are now varied to suit multiple colors, colors that had once seemed unnatural, ranging anywhere from green to bright pink.  

Humans are considered to be the most resilient of all humanoid races discovered due to their ability to adapt to their environments and having evolved, not only genetically, but as a species faster than any other race.  Humans are considered some of the more visually appealing races, even by other races, which causes quite a bit of cross-breeding among humans and other races giving rise to half-breeds.  However, due to massive genetic differences, the offspring of humans and other races tend to not live beyond 3 years old.

While physically weaker than most other races, their ability to think and their cunning tend to get them out of a lot of problems that a lot of warrior races can't think their way out of.
Human's Abilities

Adaptability -- Humans are granted a fourth combat ability upon reaching A Rank.  This 4th ability is a custom ability and must be created/approved in order to be used.


Vindrikes

Average Lifespan:  350 Earth Years

Vindrikes are a warrior species from an unknown origin.  These lizard-like creatures were subject to a lot of conspiracy theories about the "reptilians" within the world government.  However, all of those conspiracies were squashed when the Vindrikes attempted an invasion of Earth in the year 2117 AD.  However, after coming into contact with the United Alliance's Steel Sentry, their invasion came to a halt.  Peace talks were made between the remaining Vindrikes and the Humans with the humans allowing the Vindrikes to remain on Earth if they wanted.  However, due to the attempted invasion, Humans have harbored hatred towards the much stronger Vindrike Race.

Vindrikes can stand anywhere between 5-10 feet in height and can vary in bulk depending on what reptile they are more similar to. They can be similar to lizards with sleek bodies or they could be similar to what humans call dragons and be more bulky in appearance.  The female Vindrikes are generally the larger of the two sexes.  Vindrike society does not differentiate male or female difference except when it comes to mating; seeing both males and females as equals in terms of strength and the ability to lead.  
Vindrike's Abilities

In Battle Ability
Vindrike Rallying Call -- A Vindrike is capable of rallying their troops with a single roar.  This roar grants all Vindrikes, including the user, +5 to all accuracies for 3 Rounds.  A single Vindrike may only use this ability once per battle.  Only 1 Vindrike Rallying Call can go up at once.

Out of Battle Ability
-Viper Vision -- A Vindrike is capable of toggling between normal eye-sight and heat-vision.  This only works if the Vindrike are seeing an object with their own eyes and not through a camera, which makes this ability ineffective inside of a Sentry.
-Jacobson's Smell -- Much like reptiles on earth, Vindrike have a powerful sense of smell using their equivalent of the Jacobson's Organ.  A Vindrike is capable of smelling a single drop of blood from over a mile away with how sensitive their sense is.


Gorkans

Average Lifespan: 40 Earth Years

Gorkans are an interesting race as they mainly have a one-track mind and that is a mind for technological advances.  They have been around since the dawn of man, visiting them to observe their progress.  The Gorkans have watched over humanity, not interfering with them through all of their dark times and through all of their times of enlightenment.  The Gorkans knew that Humans would either strive or destroy themselves and if they strived, it would be up to them to eventually take their technology and learn it themselves.  

Gorkans have no opinion on humanity's fate and highly covets intellectual pursuits and technological advancement.  Gorkans finally appeared to humanity just moments after the first exhibition of the Steel Sentries.  While humanity attempted to attack the Gorkans, humans were quickly neutralized and put in their place.  Out of fear of the Gorkans overtaking humanity, an Accord was written granting Gorkans free roam of their technology, all while learning Gorkan Technology knowing this would appease the curious Gorkan Race.

Gorkans generally stand no taller than 3 feet tall and almost always has a glass helmet around their heads, finding it difficult to eat or breath in the toxic earth atmosphere.   Gorkans also subsist on photosynthesis, removing their need to eat or drink water in order to survive.  
Gorkan's Abilities

In Battle
Technologist -- Gorkans gain a +10% damage bonus with energy weapons.

Out of Battle
-Levitate-- While out of battle, the Gorkans are capable of manipulating gravity to the point they can freely move around without their feet touching the ground.
-Telepathy -- Due to their vast intellect, Gorkans are capable of opening up telepathic communication with another person or a large group of people.  However, the user cannot maintain the telepathic


Sylvians

Average Lifespan:  200 Earth Years

Sylvians are often compared to Fairies or Pixies of high fantasy bearing insect-like wings and soft features similar to an elf.  Sylvians appeared from, seemingly, out of nowhere.  They simply showed up and started integrating into society without any actual reason, causing the backstory of the Sylvian race to be a mystery. Whether they came from somewhere due to magic or from another planet has remained unsolved, but what the humans do know, however, is they have to share their planet with yet another race; the Sylvians.

Some people speculate Sylvians to have been half-breeds of Humans and Kahluniri long in the past, but if you ask any Sylvian, they would outright deny the claim of having Human and Kahluniri blood.  Sylvian, however, have a strange gimmick as they are all female; bearing absolutely no males within the race.  This forces them to interbreed with other races.  They are capable of doing this by manipulating their genetic structure to match that of their mate.  The offspring, however, will always be born Sylvian, regardless of who the father may be.

Sylvian are primarily known for having bug-like wings, fair skin, and the ability to change their size.  They generally stand at no more than 4'6" tall with wings roughly 3/4 of their body lenght. These wings can vary from dragonfly wings to butterfly wings (up to the user's imagination).  Their pointed ears also give credence to the claim that they are half Kahluniri.  A strange fact:  Sylvians don't like wearing shoes, finding the need for them unnecessary due to the fact that they don't have to touch the ground; while some do, the race as a whole simply finds it as their preference to go without shoes.
Sylvian's Abilities

In Battle
Magical Being -- Sylvians receive +10% damage with magic.

Out of Battle
-Winged Flight -- Due to the wings that Sylvians were born with, they are capable of winged flight.  
-Pixie Dust -- Sylvians are capable of altering their size to the size of a human's palm.  While Sylvians cannot control Steel Sentries while in their smaller state, they can use this to their advantage while outside of the Sentries.


Kostranans

Average Lifespan:  425 Earth Years

Kostranans hail from the Jovian moon Europa.  The Kostranans were discovered almost 45 years after humanity started space exploration.  Humans attempted to discover life within their Solar System, thinking that, with all of the water within the Jovian moon, it would be the most likely place for life; be it intelligent life or simple lifeforms.  Upon exploring the Jovian moon, they discovered the Kostranans swimming through the water.  The Kostranans seemed extremely hostile, destroying the probe that was sent underneath the sheets of ice and into the oceans below.

This information was kept silent by the Space Exploration Committee for quite some time until the Kostranan, as well as most other races, intended on overtaking the Earth from the humans.  However, after a long campaign, humanity discovered their love of books and ancient knowledge went unmatched.  Offering unfettered knowledge and capabilities of exploring Earth and the ancient ruins and technology, the Kostranan stopped their assault in favor of academic knowledge.  

Kostranans can stand anywhere from 4-8 feet tall with their most notable features being a face full of tentacles.  They are often compared to the Lovecraftian story of Cthulhu with some people actually believing that H.P. Lovecraft had made contact with the Kostranans as inspiration for the story of the elder god.  The Kostranans don't have a very large mass in terms of body-size, usually very thin and frail looking.  
Kostranan's Abilities

In Battle
Ancient Knowledge -- The Kostranans gain +1 spell at A Rank, bringing their maximum number of spells to 11.  This 11th spell also gains +10% damage and costs 10% less.  (Must be stated which spell is the Kostranan's Ancient Knowledge Spell)

Out of Battle
-Mind Reader --  Kostranans are capable of being able to hear surface thoughts of people within the same topic as them (except for 'meanwhile scenarios') where the person(s) isn't physically near the Kostranan.  They are only allowed to read surface thoughts written by others in the topic.  This ability is on all the time, so a Kostranan could easily be overwhelmed by hearing the thoughts of everyone within close proximity.
-Underwater Affinity -- Kostranans are capable of breathing and traveling at quick distances underwater. They are capable of holding their breaths underwater for over 3 hours and can move extremely quickly underwater.  Unfortunately, this doesn't translate to a Kostranan's ability to move underwater while in a Sentry.


Soul Vessels

Average Lifespan:  Undefined

Soul Vessels, or rather known as Carbuncle are spirits of humans that have taken a different form. These are generally the spirits of humans who disliked their life as a human and longed to have been that of another creature such as a dragon or a winged tiger (to name a few). The Soul Vessels are able to be seen as near transparent beings in the shape of the creature they desired to become. However, as this form, they were unable to interact with their environment. That was until a man by the name of [Joseph Strailith] had this happen to his young daughter. He created a small mechanical doll with an extremely rare crystal inside to house the soul.

He discovered his daughter returned as that of a unicorn, implanting the soul of her daughter into the small machine doll, allowing her to manipulate the world around her. This became a very popular trend among those who don't hold strong religious beliefs as this brought their loved ones, seemingly, back from the dead. However, due to the Soul Vessel's inability to age or die, all Soul Vessels witnessed their loved ones die with age until they had nobody left.

Upon returning as a Soul Vessel, the individual must choose which animal/creature they'd like for their appearance. Soul Vessels must also choose what to use as their Machine Doll in order to interact with their environment; so a Soul Vessel is capable of choosing 3 Face Claims.
1) For their human self
2) For their "true form" which is an animal
3) For their Mechanical Doll.
In order for a Soul Vessel to interact with their environment, they MUST be in their Machine Doll, which can range anywhere between 1 foot tall to 10 feet tall.
Soul Vessel's Abilities

In Battle
Poltergeist -- The Soul Vessel may leave their original body to take over another Steel Sentry (using Magic Accuracy).  If effected, the target loses control of their Steel Sentry as the Soul Vessel takes over for a maximum of 2 rounds of combat.  This control is negated once the Steel Sentry takes 10% of it's max HP in damage or if the Soul Vessel makes an attack with the opposing Steel Sentry.  The Soul Vessel may use one one of the enemy Steel Sentry's weapons or a single spell of the opponent's THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY SEEN before control is lost.

While the Soul Vessel has left their Mechanical Doll and their Steel Sentry, their Steel Sentry remains vulnerable.  All attacks dealt towards it are considered auto-hit until the Soul Vessel is returned to their body.

Out of Battle
-Immortality -- A Soul Vessel is incapable of permanently dying.  However, a Soul Vessel cannot do anything unless they have a mechanical doll to inhabit to allow freedom of movement.
-Out of Body -- Soul Vessels are capable of leaving their mechanical doll for a moment as a means to perform safe reconnaissance.  However, while the Soul Vessel is gone, their mechanical doll remains vulnerable.  While out of their mechanical doll, Soul Vessels aren't able to control their Sentries.  They are also immune to damage while outside of their mechanical doll.

The Non-Playable Races
Kahluhniri

Average Lifespan:   Unknown

The Kahluhniri are assumed to be an immortal race, unable to die from natural causes other than being killed, these creatures have a very elf-like appearance.  They were the originators of the ancient artifacts known as "The Harbingers" that came down to earth and were revered as gods, devils, angels, and demons.  The Kahluhniri's reasons for going to earth still remain unknown to the human race.  However, only a few Kahluhniri remain alive, having been around since the [Kahluhniri Conflict] over 10,000 years ago.  Those still alive are now part of high government throughout the world and generally work for the "Others".  

Unlike the other races, however, the Kahluhniri have already been able to use magic even without the need of the Harbinger Core or the EDS.  To them, the Harbinger Core was only an amplifier whereas everyone else, it's used as their only means to be able to use magic.  
 


The "Others"

Average Lifespan:   Unknown

The actual leaders of the world.  While each country and faction had their own leaders, the "Others" were the ones actually pulling the strings from behind the curtain.  Nobody knows what the "Others" look like, but pictured to the side are the predicted appearance of the "Others".  Their origin is also unknown and how they appeared on Earth is also unknown.
